Who are the terrorists? Analyzing changes in sociological profile among members of ETA

Article Abstract:

Terrorists can be characterized depending on a range of significant structural elements that may change with the passage of time and even their sociological profile may be similar or may be different from that of the surrounding population. The behavior of ETA members, which is a terrorist organization, is reported to have changed substantially, since when it had started often there were violent operations but slowly the same reduced.

Torn between God, family, and money: the changing profile of Lebanon's religious terrorists

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the change in attitudes of Muslim Shi'a terrorists in Lebanon over a 10-year period is presented. The period in question, 1987-1997, showed the respondents gaining personal wealth and losing interest in politics and martyrdom.

Modeling hostage-taking: on reputation and strategic rationality of terrorists

Article Abstract:

The article discusses the efficacy of the game theory for analyzing the hostage-taking situation. A new model is suggested to indicate why conventional strategies used for tackling the hostage situation might fail.
