Multinationals in Indian Big Business

Article Abstract:

The direction of foreign investment by multinationals in Indian businesses is analyzed. India's heavily regulated economic activity determines the paths of investment. Advanced technology investment is the only outside investment actively sought. India has excluded multinationals from marketing and capital intensive investments. The largest multinational penetration is found in management intensive industries. Regulation appears to have restricted industrial development.
