Article Abstract:

The importance of standing rigging is explained on the basis of the real life experiences of a sailor and his friend on his boat Wind Ketcher when on a short trip across Tampa Bay and how the failure of one tiny component brought the rig down. They were saved because their anchor chain got trapped and absorbed the tension of the tangled mass of genoa and pulpit remnant till the time they could secure it.
