Prediction of maximal heart rate in individuals with mental retardaion

Article Abstract:

Results suggest that prediction of maximal heart rate in subjects of 8 to 46 years, with or without mental retardation, can be determined fairly accurately provided that Down syndrome is taken into account in mental retardation patients.

Baroreflex sensitivity during static exercise in individuals with down syndrome

Article Abstract:

Baroreflex Sensitivity (BRS) as a potential mechanism contributing to chronotropic incompetence during Isometric Handgrip (IHG) in persons with Down Syndrome (DS) is studied. The results suggest that individuals with DS have lower BRS at rest and during IHG than controls and this may be related to their attenuated heart rate response during perturbation.

Comparison of isokinetic peak force and work parameters in youth with and without mental retardation

Article Abstract:

This article presents research that compares knee flexion strength in nondisabled and mentally retarded youth aged 10 to 16. Results suggest strength parameters in mentally retarded youth do not follow the same patterns as their nonretarded peers.
