Developing an entrepreneurial culture in Singapore: Dream or reality

Article Abstract:

The strategies employed by the Government of Singapore and the People's Action Party (PAP) that transformed Singapore in just four decades into the world's most competitive nation are described. Based on the trends of political, economic and social changes it is recommended that the Singaporean government must review the paternalistic style of governing, hasten the process of privatization by selling off its stakes in its vast network of non-strategic Government-led companies and the ruling PAP must be more tolerant of criticisms and diversity.
