Dietary intake, body image perceptions, and weight concerns of female US international synchronized figure skating teams

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to determine the nutrient intakes and to examine body image perceptions and weight concerns of elite female US international synchronized skaters. Significant differences were observed between perceived ideal and current body shapes and it is specified that greater the dissatisfaction with physical and emotional self, the larger the discrepancy between current versus desired body shape is found.

Food preferences, dieting behaviors, and body image perceptions of elite figure skaters

Article Abstract:

The food preferences, body image perceptions, dieting behaviors, and nutrient intakes of elite male and female figure skaters are determined. The results indicate that the elite figure skaters have a greater preference for certain food groups, such as grains and fruits, and that the athletes have a heightened concern about their body weight and body image.

Use of Dietary supplements by Elite Figure Skaters

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on the usage of dietary supplements on a group of figure skaters. The study reveals that, among the other athlete group elite figure skaters consumes 50% more dietary supplements like, multivitamins, B-Complex, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Calcium and Iron.
