Article Abstract:

Some 30 billion pounds sterling will be required to finance the necessary changes in business computer systems in order to cope with the new millenium. Business enterprises in the UK should change both hardware and software equipment so that on Jan 1 2000 their systems will not shut down. Computers will not recognize the year 2000 unless they are 2000-compliant. All types of computerized systems will need to be corrected, such as fire control and heating systems. Around 80% of business in the UK have not yet tackled the problem adequately
