Effect of esophagel acid and prophylactic rabeprazole on performance in runners

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to find out the effect of esophageal acid perfusion during exercise on pulmonary function and exercise performance and whether acid suppression with rabeprazole (RAB) increases exercise performance during esophageal acid infusion. The results showed that esophageal acid perfusion decreases exercise ability in athletes with and without heartburn.

Nonlinear relationships between weekly walking distance and adiposity in 27,596 women

Article Abstract:

The slopes relating adiposity of weekly distance walked were more negative in overweight sedentary women and least in lean active women. It was found that in women the greatest benefit of walking might be among the most obese and that at higher weekly distances the declines in weight associated with walking diminish.

Maintaining vigorous activity attenuates 7-yr weight gain in 8340 runners

Article Abstract:

The long-term maintenance of vigorous exercise attenuates the trajectory of age-related weight gain is studied. Results revealed that as the men and women aged, they gained less weight in proportion to their levels of sustained vigorous activity.
