Electroencephalography and mental states associated with elite performance

Article Abstract:

Psychophysiological changes in elite athletes as they perform can be measured by electroencephalography (EEG). A study of marksmanship and archery reveals that left-brain cerebral alpha activity increases and corresponding right-brain alpha activity decreases during preparatory time occurring immediately before performance. Studies must be refined before conclusive determinations can be reached.
