Hip-abductor fatigue, frontal-plane landing angle, and excursion during a drop jump

Article Abstract:

The effect of bilateral hip-abductor fatigue on frontal-plane tibiofemoral landing characteristics and vertical ground-reaction force (vGRF) during the landing phase of a drop jump was examined in a study. Results show hip-abductor fatigue influences frontal-plane tibiofemoral landing angle, but not excursion or vGRF during the landing phase of a drop jump.

Ground-reaction forces during form skipping and running

Article Abstract:

A study aims to compare ground-reaction forces (GRF) during form skipping and running in healthy subjects at clinically relevant speeds. Results show that F(sub z) GRF are lower during form skipping than during running, which could explain why form skipping is an appropriate progression to running.

Thermal effects of bovine-tendon elasticity: Implications for provocative elongation techniques

Article Abstract:

A study to explore changes in bovine Achilles-tendon elasticity relative to three thermal conditions was conducted. The results revealed a direct relationship between imposed thermal energy and tendon elasticity that does not affect the elastic limit.
