The anti-Trump: Jerry Speyer doesn't plaster his name all over his buildings, and he tries to stay off the gossip pages; but behind the scenes, he has amassed a real-estate empire second to none; in the late 90's, the quiet ascension has replaced the flash-and-burn

Article Abstract:

Jerry I. Speyer may not be as well-known as Donald Trump but his international holdings reflect his business astuteness. Head of Tishman Speyer Properties, whose holdings are estimated to be worth $10.5 billion, he is regarded highly for his extraordinary negotiation skills. These served him well in the competitive bidding for the Chrysler Building which he acquired for $220 million. What distinguishes Speyer from other real estate moguls is old-world approach to business dealing and philanthropy.
