One more dive: is it worth it?

Article Abstract:

Silent hypothermia and dehydration are some of the conditions divers often encounter. Silent hypothermia, which is the most common form of hypothermia divers experience, predisposes a diver to a dive accident since it causes fatigue and mental dullness during its initial stages. Divers experiencing silent hypothermia may never shiver or feel cold since it involves gradual cooling of the body's core. Dehydration, meanwhile, occurs as divers try to avoid intake of fluid to lessen the urge to urinate when diving.

The history in your hands

Article Abstract:

Rodale's ScubaLab, a project of Rodale Press and Rodale's 'Scuba Diving' magazine, has made substantial contributions in giving consumers a reliable guide to scuba life support equipment. Since its creation in 1992, ScubaLab has already evaluated more than 250 regulators, 120 dive computers and 160 BCs. One of its controversial and important findings is that recreational divers were sometimes being utilized as crash-test dummies for inadequately tested new designs and innovations.

How to set up your weightbelt

Article Abstract:

Scuba divers should support their weightbelt around the waist. Divers should practice ditching the belt in anticipation of emergencies. They should also utilize weights that generate a mirror image and select a belt with the proper length. They should avoid lopsided belts that are uncomfortable and unsteadying. In addition, scuba divers should not place any weights beneath a tank. They should be located forward of the hips to prevent interference with the buckle's operation.
