Posttetanic potentiation in knee extensors after high-frequency submaximal percutaneous electrical stimulation

Article Abstract:

The effect of 7-second high-frequency submaximal direct percutaneous electrical stimulation (PES) on contractile characteristics of the knee-extensor (KE) muscles is examined. A small increase at 1-5 minutes followed by a small decline at 10 minutes is observed in posttetanic potentiation (PTP) in KE muscles induced by a brief high-frequency direct submaximal tetanic PES.

The influence of injured athletes' perceptions of social support from ATCs on their beliefs about rehabilitation

Article Abstract:

It is determined whether athletes' perceptions of social support from their certified athletic trainers (ATCs) are related to their beliefs about the rehabilitation process. Results suggest that when severely injured athletes perceive that their ATCs provide strong social support, they are more likely to believe in their rehabilitation programs.

Sudden cardiac death in Athletes: what sport-rehabilitation specialists need to know

Article Abstract:

The underlying conditions that predispose athletes to sudden cardiac death (SCD) are described and the signs and symptoms that indicate an athlete is at risk are reviewed. The study indicates that sudden cardiac death (SCD) occurs in older athletes because of coronary artery disease.
