RPE during prolonged cycling with and without carbohydrate ingestion in boys and men

Article Abstract:

A study was done to examine the effects of prolonged exercise and carbohydrate(CHO) ingestion on rating of perceived exertion (RPE) in a group of 9 and 10yr old boys and a group of 20 to 25 year old men. The study revealed that RPE was higher in 9 and 10 year old boys when compared with the other group and the increase in RPE over time was faster in the boys than in the men.

Puberty effects on NK cell responses to exercise and carbohydrate intake in boys

Article Abstract:

A study aims to determine whether the smaller perturbations in natural killer (NK) cells induced by strenuous exercise and carbohydrate (CHO) intake, previously reported in children, are influenced by puberty. Results confirm the influence of puberty on the distribution of NK cell subsets in response to exercise and CHO intake in boys.

Exercise attenuates diabetes-induced ultrastructural changes in rat cardiac tissue

Article Abstract:

The effects of endurance exercise on the ultrastructural changes seen in diabetic cardiomyopathy are discussed. Results indicate that exercise restores specific ultrastructural characteristics of diabetic cardiomyopathy returning them toward nondiabetic phenotypes, particularly in the mitochondria and extracellular matrix proteins.
