Influence of midsole bending stiffness on joint energy and jump height performance

Article Abstract:

Results indicate that the stiffness of the shoe's midsole does not influence energy generation and absorption at the ankle, knee, and hip joints. Data further reveal that an increase in the metatarsophalangeal bending stiffness results in performance improvement by reducing the amount of energy lost at the joints.

Orthotic comfort is related to kinematics, kinetics, and EMG in recreational runners

Article Abstract:

Results indicate that comfort and biomechanical properties of footwear do matter in foot orthoses and that comfort of footwears is an important aspect of foot orthoses for running activities. Data show that kinematic, kinetic, and EMG changes in response to foot orthoses are associated with the differences in comfort of foot orthoses.
