The effect of glucose infusion on glucose kinetics during a 1-h time trial

Article Abstract:

Six endurance cyclists completed two performance trials in which they has to accomplish a set amount of work as quickly as possible were analyzed to investigate the effect of glucose infusion on glucose kinetics and performance. The results demonstrated that glucose infusion had no effect on 1-h cycle time-trial performance, despite an increased availability of plasma glucose for oxidation and evidence of increased glucose uptake into the tissues.

The effect of acute exercise on serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels and cognitive function

Article Abstract:

The effects of acute exercise on the serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels in humans are investigated. The results indicate that BDNF levels in humans are significantly elevated in response to exercise, and the intensity of the exercise affects the magnitude of elevation.

Sending the signal: molecular mechanisms regulating glucose uptake

Article Abstract:

The nature of insulin signaling defects in skeletal muscle from Type 2 diabetic patients is described. The mechanisms behind insulin-relying and insulin non-relying regulation of insulin uptake are highlighted.
