The effect of static stretching on maximal voluntary contraction and force-time curve characteristics

Article Abstract:

A study on the effect of static stretching on maximal voluntary contraction (MVC) and isometric force time curve characteristics of leg extensor muscles and electromyographic activity (EMG) activity of rectus femoris (RF), biceps femoris (BF), and gastrocnemius (GA) is conducted. Results reveal that a moderate volume of static stretching did not alter significantly the MVC and the isometric force-time curve characteristics.

Gluteus medius activity during 3 variations of isometric single-leg stance

Article Abstract:

The combination of hip rotation and abduction exercises resulting in the greatest activity of the Gluteus medius (GM) and whether it responds to increased loads in these exercises is determined. It was concluded that the GM is most active when performing abduction and internal rotation of the hip.

Intratester reliability for determining an 8-repetition maximum for 3-shoulder exercises using elastic bands

Article Abstract:

The intratester reliability for establishing an 8-repetition maximum (8RM) using elastic bands is determined. However, it is concluded that the training load can be reliably standardized in healthy young adults using moderate to high-resistance elastic bands with a goal-based multiple-RM test.
