The effects of the glycemic index of an evening meal on the metabolic responses to a standard high glycemic index breakfast and subsequent exercise in men

Article Abstract:

The effect of the glycemic index of an evening meal on responses to a standard high glycemic index (HGI) breakfast the following morning is investigated. The results suggest that consuming a single low glycemic index evening meal can improve glucose tolerance at breakfast but the metabolic responses to subsequent exercise were not affected.

The metabolic responses to high carbohydrate meals with different glycemic indices consumed during recovery from prolonged strenuous exercise

Article Abstract:

The metabolic responses to high glycemic index (HGI) or low glycemic index (LGI) meals consumed during recovery from prolonged exercise are investigated. The results suggest that the glycemic index of the carbohydrates consumed during the immediate post exercise period may not be important as long as sufficient carbohydrates is consumed.

Improved recovery from prolonged exercise following the consumption of low glycemic index carbohydrate meals

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to evaluate the influence of glycemic index (GI) carbohydrate food intake on endurance capacity after sustained exercise. The results indicate that the endurance capacity increases due to increase in fat oxidation after consumption of low GI recovery diet.
