The rigors of fishing

Article Abstract:

A recreational fisher's experience in tournament angling is recounted. His lack of competitiveness in this type of deep sea fishing activity has made him feel that he is not ready to join such fishing activity. After the tournament, however, he considered this the best angling day he ever had.

A flight taken in a small aircraft that did not seem sturdy, with a pilot who still needed an instructor is described briefly. The passenger was reluctant to take the ride because of a frightening previous experience in a small airplane with a boatbuilder at the controls.

Gambling with hurricanes: it always pays to hedge your bets when you're dealing with unpredictable forces

A boater describes how he prepared his yacht for Hurricane Erin. The storm was not as strong as expected, and the damage from boat preparation was greater than the storm damage. However, the boater still prefers to be prepared for hurricanes.
