Validity and factorial invariance of the Social Physique Anxiety Scale

Article Abstract:

Validity and factorial invariance of the Social Physique Anxiety Scale (SPAS) are discussed. A study has tested whether or not the two-factor model of the 12-item SPAS is substantially meaningful. Other possibilities tested were that a methodological artifact represents positively and negatively worded items. The factorial validity of the nine-item unidimensional model was tested. Whether or not changing the number of items would improve factorial validity was studied. The factorial invariance across gender was evaluated. The construct validity scores was investigated. The nine- and seven-item unidimensional models to the SPAS showed factorial validity, factorial invariance and construct validity. The two-factor model to the SPAS showed a methodological artifact.

Enjoyment mediates effects of a school-based physical-activity intervention

Article Abstract:

The effect of enjoyment of physical education (PE), physical activity enjoyment and self-efficacy beliefs about participating in physical activity is studied in the context of the Lifestyle Education for Activity Program (LEAP). The results indicate that the increase in enjoyment could be responsible for mediating a positive effect on the LEAP intervention.
