Validity of accelerometry for measurement of activity in people with brain injury

Article Abstract:

The validity of a uniaxial accelerometer is evaluated for measuring physical activity in people with acquired brain injury using portable indirect calorimetry as a criterion measure. Actigraph counts provide a valid index of activity across the intensities investigated.

Triaxial accelerometry to evaluate walking efficiency in older subjects

Article Abstract:

Results indicate that walking efficiency can be improved by increasing isometric knee extension force via increased energy utilization in the anterior-posterior/mediolateral directions in older subjects postendurance/resistance training.
