Ventilatory threshold: a useful method to determine aerobic fitness in children

Article Abstract:

This article evaluates ventilatory threshold as a measure of aerobic fitness in pediatric patients. Ventilatory threshold measurements taken during an incremental exercise test indicate that there is an association between ventilatory threshold and maximal oxygen uptake and that ventilatory threshold is a useful marker of aerobic capacity.

Oxygen uptake kinetics are slowed in cystic fibrosis

Article Abstract:

The study aims at comparing oxygen uptake at the onset of exercise in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF). It is found that if VO(sub 2) kinetics is slowed in CF, it attributes to an impairment of oxygen delivery.

Single-leg Wingate Test in children: reliability and optimal braking force

Article Abstract:

This article describes the use of the single-leg Wingate Test to determine muscle power and leg dominance in youth aged 6 to 20 years. Results suggest this test is a reliable means to measure single-leg power.
