Compensating with composites

Article Abstract:

The numerous advantages of composites used as propeller shaft material, which include their light weight and adaptable qualities, highly suitable for fast-moving ships are discussed. Characteristics of the Geislinger-manufactured superior Gesilco shaftline, which are based on filament winding technology, are presented.

What happened to the Innovations Group?

Article Abstract:

The agenda of the 79th session of the IMO's Maritime Safety Committee included passenger ship safety. The Innovations Group, which had contributed largely to the safety of passenger ships, is now defunct and certain steps need to be undertaken to revive the group.
