Germans build Iranian feeders

Article Abstract:

The order placed by the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping lines (IRISL) for six 2,478 TEU feeder box-ships equipped with Mac-Gregor hatch covers with a partial box design offering improved construction, maintenance, and operational characteristics. This order forms part of an ambitious programme of investment in new tonnage by IRISL, which includes a five ship series of 1,118 TEU feeders being built, for the first time, in Iran.

Norwegian supply ships go gas powered

The world's first two gas-driven cargo carrying ships delivered by the Norwegian Offshore industry supplies vessels, ordered by the shipping companies Eidesvik and Simon Mokster shipping. Eidesvik shipping company in cooperation with Statoil headed for the development of gas-driven ship concept that aimed at limiting emissions form the Norwegian maritime industry.

Is zero discharge feasible?

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the discharge of liquid waste at sea are discussed. In particular the feasibility of eliminating black and grey water discharges in the light of legislation introduced by Alaska is examined.
