Single-vehicle accidents in Sweden: a comparative study of risk and risk factors by age

Article Abstract:

A study on the level of single-vehicle accidents by Swedish drivers was conducted using comparisons of risk and risk factors divided by age. Results indicate that younger drivers (18-19 yrs) are more at risk of having an accident that involves injury and going off-road as well as increased risk for an accident on Friday and Saturday evenings. Approximately 33% of the drivers were intoxicated and this was more common for middle-aged drivers.

An evaluation of the impact of daytime running lights on traffic safety in Canada

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that daytime running lights (DRL) do not significantly reduce the number of automobile accidents involving opposing and angle collisions. Statistical analysis using data from two-vehicle collisions in Canada is given. A quasi-experimental comparative posttest design is used. The government anticipated far greater road safety through DRL than obtained.
