Trasmediterranea fits first hydrofoil

Article Abstract:

The task of designing propellers is a difficult one since different blade angles are needed for take off, navigational and cruising. Trasmediterranea encountered some of the problems associated with blade angles in its existing fleet of hydrofoils. To overcome such problems, Trasmediterranea commissioned Rodriguez Cantiere to design a new generation of propellers. After installing the CLT blades on two of its hydrofoils, Trasmediterranea noticed significant improvements in fuel efficiency, maneuverability and speed.

Argent Marine Services Inc.'s Southern carrier, for instance, is undergoing a major refurbishing effort after being laid up for almost 18 years. Built in 1978, the vessel features the Technigaz membrane system which gives it a total of 126,541 cubic meter capacity.
