Catalyst, Snibston and Eureka!

Article Abstract:

England leisure attractions, Catalyst, Widnes, Snibston Discovery Park, Coalville and Eureka!, Halifax have combined the features of interactive children's museums and American science museums. All aim to attract tourists to degenerating former industrial locations. Chemical industry museum, Catalyst provides 30 hand-on exhibits and observatory. Displays at Snibston cover transport, industry and engineering. Eureka!'s three main catagories are 'Living and Working Together,' 'Me and My Body,' and 'Inventing and Creating.'

Harvesting the visitor

Article Abstract:

Farm diversification has prompted the development of successful attractions at the National Shire Horse Centre, Yealmpton, Devon, England and White Post Modern Farm Centre, Farnsfield, Nottinghamshire, England. Both attract over 200,000 visitors per annum. Success may be due to aggressive marketing, good location and their appeal to children. The Shire Horse Centre offers parades and falconry demonstrations. White Post encourages school visits.

Llancaiach Fawr Manor

Article Abstract:

Rhymney Valley District Council, South Wales has developed a living history tourist attraction at mediaeval manor house, Llancaiach Fawr, Nelson, South Wales. The house opened on Jul 20, 1991 following restoration costing 600,000 pounds sterling and investment of one million pounds in visitor facilities. Costumed actors interpret the attraction. The historical background is civil war, 1645.
