Article Abstract:

The main principles of management are becoming particularly important at a time of rapid change and considerable job stress and uncertainty. One of these principles is Machiavelli's power principle, which is based on idea of maintaining and strengthening leadership power and control at any cost. He believed firmly that 'the end justifies the means,' and gave advice on how to use and exploit human failings to gain power and exercise maximum influence.

Motivation or movement?

Article Abstract:

Managers are responsible for providing a working environment conducive to long-term employee motivation. Effective motivation comes from within. Regular contact with employees will assist identification of motivating factors. Recognition of personal achievement is vital. Managers should ensure all employees feel their work makes an important contribution to the success of the organisation.
