Article Abstract:

Two prize-winning restaurants are being operated with the aid of microcomputers. The computers offer up-to-date information faster. Inventory control, sales, orders, mailings and back-of-house operations are all facilitated by the computer use. However before buying a computer, the restaurateur must make careful plans, including deciding which facets of the operation would benefit from it.

Positioning is the technique in marketing to let customers know of a restaurant's unique offerings. Images must be built and then expanded. Menu, promotions, decor and even price range helps to position an operation, and its uniqueness.
