Kathmandu has now become a key tourist destination, but its exotic temples and colourful markets still give a strong sense of its mystical past. It has a rich mix of different cultures, and has fascinating narrow streets and alleys away from the main tourist sites. The 200-year-old Annapurna Temple is particularly worth visiting.
