Article Abstract:

Future theme parks will be transformed through the use of digital technology such as virtual reality. Visitors will be able to experience a non-linear entertainment experience by having the opportunity to interact with motion picture action through the application of digital film cutting technques. Interactivity is an audience-led experience, with the audience able to make choices to create its own entertainment. The impact of digital technology on the entertainment industry is described.

New leisure attractions are under development. They include Segaworld, which will open at London's Trocadero in summer 1996 and Namco's Wonderpark opening in London. Interactive, high tech attractions provide a return on investment over a short period of time and some companies can offset investment with other activities.
