Full steam ahead

Article Abstract:

Canadian franchise chains have experienced phenomenal growth in 1998 as a result of the healthy economy and positive investor attitude. The trend is expected to continue in 1999. However, industry analysts believe that the rapid expansion of franchise chains should be based on a strong infrastructure and a supportive franchise network. Thus, franchisors should avoid mistakes such as opening units that encroach upon another, adopting a dying concept and signing up franchisees without the necessary business experience.
