Futuristic TV

Article Abstract:

High definition television (HDTV) systems have been developed in Japan, Europe and the US. Although the picture quality is sharper and quieter than conventional TV technology the concept has not been taken up by the public, since it can only be broadcast by satellite. In Europe there has not been any launch of HDTV sets since no wide-screen programmes have been broadcasted. In the US digital HDTV technology has been developed allowing programmes to be broadcast with conventional ground-based transmitters, but until the launch of big, flat-screen TVs the technology is not likely to be successful.

Goebbels: a complex drama in two acts

Article Abstract:

The plays written by Hitler's propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels in his younger days show how he moved towards expressionism and modernism. The four plays, written in 1918-23, all show a corrupt society and a suffering protagonist, but the earlier ones are realist rather than expressionist.
