Repairing the damage

Article Abstract:

The psychological damage that journalists face in covering violent acts can be repaired through debriefing. Michigan State University has established the Victims and Media Program to help journalists cope with the psychological trauma of reporting violence. The program also provides news agencies with structured opportunities for discourses on the challenges faced in covering acts of violence. In addition, Victims and Media Program provides on-site counselling services for reporters. Efforts are also underway to provide individual counselling through e-mail and telephone.
