Article Abstract:

Geoffrey Thompson is the first English president of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA). Profile: David Howell

Article Abstract:

Over 64 million people visited attractions during 1995 which have membership of the British Association of Leisure Parks, Piers and Attractions, according to chairman David Howell. Working in partnership with the government whilst constantly maintaining an innovative atmosphere is the most important way to ensure the future of the attraction industry in the UK, according to Howell, who has worked in the industry since the late 1960s. Council approval to construct a 500 million pounds sterling theme park in Wales has yet to be granted, but Howell believes the park will go ahead because it will be good for the local area.
