Investment prospects

Article Abstract:

The leisure market is becoming increasingly attractive to financiers, as it offers strong growth potential and has a very wide customer base, according to Alastair Gibbons, director of NatWest Ventures. It is possible to forecast leisure spending relatively accurately, as it is connected with GDP, and this allows wise investment decisions to be made. Good leisure companies now benefit from a high level of operational leverage, as they have considerable potential for duplicating a successful product or brand.

Cinema scope

Article Abstract:

British cinemas tend to be located at out-of-town locations where the multiplex structure, which may has as many as 20 screens, is often the central feature of the retail or leisure development. Approximately 600 million pounds sterling has been spent on industry improvements since 1985. Wall-to-wall picture size, digital sound systems, good seating with plenty of leg-room and well-designed viewing aspects are featured in most modern cinemas in the United Kingdom.

Risky business

Article Abstract:

The British leisure industry is a very attractive investment opportunity because leisure activities are currently in vogue. Investors should be cautious, however, of several drawbacks. The long-term lease arrangements which apply to leisure park tenants are only advantageous while business is good. Leisure is a relatively young industry, and little is known about the preferences and future requirements of leisure consumers, or those of leisure companies.
