Making money

Article Abstract:

Museums in the UK have been developing shops, cafes and other ways of raising revenue which are not directly related to their main activity. This trend is especially noticeable in independent museums, which have more need to raise funds, but is also to be found in public sector museums which have been affected by budgetary constraints. Where products on offer relate to the museum's exhibits, performance has been good, and market research of visitors to museums can also help increase the efficiency of this method of fund raising.
