Article Abstract:

Being public makes a company much more accountable, according to Parc Asterix General Manager Olivier de Bosredon. Parc Asterix lauched its shares on the Second Market of the stock exchange in Paris, France, on Oct 24, 1997. It is strongly aware that difficulties could have a negative impact on its share value, so is placing even more emphasis on safety, security and technical issues. It has opened a new attraction each year, and in 1997 had 1.9 million visitors. It has tried to avoid making high entrance charges, and believes that visitor numbers could reach 3 million.

Sarner International of the UK was awarded the Hollandrama project which is housed within the historic buildings and gardens of the Nederland Openluchtmuseum. It will give an insight into Holland's evolution, through multi-sensory effects. Brennan and Whalley are opening a visitor facility for Wicklow Gaol, using sound, light and special effects, and Landmark Entertainment has created Star Trek: The Experience, which will open at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel in summer 1997.

Going to the dogs

Article Abstract:

The combination of greyhound racing with other leisure pursuits is increasing it's importance in the leisure industry. Emphasis has changed to total entertainment. Income from betting has declined and catering accounts for 45% of turnover. Reasonable costs makes racing attractive for corporate hospitality. However, the betting levy discriminates against greyhound racing and The National Greyhound Racing Club is lobbying for a fairer system.
