Sir Jocelyn Stevens: partnerships and new funding will enable English Heritage to look to the future with confidence says chair Sir Jocelyn Stevens

Article Abstract:

Sir Jocelyn Stevens became chair of English Heritage in 1992 and had the task of reviving it. The organisation's proposed development of Stonehenge is being considered by the Millenium Commission for funding, and it hopes it will become its flagship as a Millennium Park. English Heritage has linked with The Tussauds Group, following the Private Finance Initiative route, and has also handed over the management of some sites to local people, retaining overall responsibility. English Heritage sees encouraging tourism as a priority and there are five new projects planned for 1997.
