Investors interested in UK leisure and brewing industries had a range of corporate announcements to study in Mar 1999. Travel groups First Choice and Kuoni announced their merger, but pub operators Regent Inns and SFI Group terminated their merger talks. Health club operator Holmes Place announced a fund raising of 31 million pounds sterling for its rapid expansion. Thistle Hotels and pub operator J D Wetherspoon both reported good results, and shares in South African Breweries, floated on the London Stock Exchange, attracted much interest.

There are several new books and movies about the late Andy Warhol and the Factory, and his influence seems to be stronger than ever. His ironic, detached way of viewing the world meshes perfectly with 1990s popular culture. He was one of the first to embrace art as commerce.
