Death of a port?

Article Abstract:

The series of earthquakes that hit Papua New Guinea in Sep. 1994, greatly devastated the town of Rabaul, New Britain. The strong earthquakes were accompanied by several explosive volcanic eruptions. Although the town was properly warned and residents were evacuated early, four deaths were recorded during the disaster. Damage to property was severe and 100,000 people needed emergency assistance. The Rabaul disaster clearly illustrate the danger of inhabiting areas near volcanoes.

Presidents forum: what should UFVA bring forward from the past to the future?

Article Abstract:

Past presidents of the University Film and Video Assn (UFVA), formerly known as the University Film Producers Assn, express their thoughts regarding the developments within the UFVA during the conference in Oshkosh, WI. They agreed that the UFVA should continue with its annual conferences and with the inter-university cooperation on film projects. Some of them have gone on to teach film history and appreciation, film criticism and other production courses.

Article Abstract:

Issues are presented concerning the preventive measures which are available for protection against the contraction of malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa. The use of antimalarial medications and insect repellents is discussed.
