The traditional raw material for gambling chips is clay, which allows the chip to retain its bright colours. Ceramic chips used today are made from a clay composite. Many people are attracted to the appearance and feel of gambling chips, and the Casino Chip and Gaming Token Collectors Club has 2,200 members. The decorative ridges that usually feature on the edges of gambling chips make them easier to handle and to put down for a bet.
