Waiting at the flood gates
Article Abstract:
Iceland's Lake Grimsvotn is expected to suffer a severe flood following volcanic eruptions and activity which have melted large quantities of glacial ice in the nations's ice sheets. Scientists predict that an enormous outpouring of floodwater is predictable, on which will release approximate 3 trillion tons of water, which will wash sediment and glacial deposits across the Skeidararsandur outwash plain. Residents have been moved from the region, and flood barriers have been built to contain the damage.
