X-rated CDs: where shovelware succeeds

The newest publishing medium is the CD-ROM. There has been a glut of x-rated video and photo transfers to CD-ROM, driving low-end prices down. At the same time, higher-end publishers are publishing higher quality erotica and R-rated titles. There are currently over 500 adult titles on the market, and adult CD-ROM software is growing tremendously. One company, Entertainment Technologies, sold out of its R-rated, 25-disc collection in 30 days. The mainstay of the market are low-cost discs of still digital images, and adult BBSes also represent a large market. Linear transferred software is selling for as low as $6. More sophisticated interactive products are also becoming available, some with game play and 3D graphics.

New laws on health and safety will be enforced and consultants will need to provide their clients with up-to-date information to keep them abreast of those changes. In future consultants may be used to assess health and safety systems and audit them, rather than just doing an inspection and preparing a report.
