A remotely operated motorized burrow probe to investigate carnivore neonates

Article Abstract:

A study comparing a remote camera to investigate neonatal mortality of hyena cubs in the wild while still in their natal dens, to the burrow probe system used to detect and retrieve carcasses from within burrows to quantify and document cases of neonatal hyena mortality is illustrated. Results proved useful in detecting cubs that died prior to emergence from the natal den.

Diagnostic genetic marker that differentiates eastern fox squirrels from eastern gray squirrels

Article Abstract:

A noninvasive method is developed for detecting the presence of Delmarva fox squirrel. The analysis of the genetic marker in noninvasively collected hair samples have allowed the identification of localities occupied by Delmarva fox squirrels with a minimum investment of funds, time and effort.
