Article Abstract:

The decision to site the fusion experiment International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) in France did not satisfy many international partners namely Japan, the US, Russia and China who feel that certain domestic issues need to be attended to prior to its establishment. Some of these issues of concerns are discussed such as the type of supporting facilities to be built and their funding, computing center for data analysis.

Avian flu center put under threat of closure

Article Abstract:

The US Naval Medical Research Unit No.2 (NAMRU-2) in Jakarta, which carries out research on avian flu, is asked by the Indonesian government to shut shop. NAMRU-2 is closely working with the government in its efforts to combat and diagnose avian flu, closer of this unit would surely setback the research efforts against avian flu in Indonesia.

Partners fail to find common ground for fusion project

Article Abstract:

The negotiations over the project ITER's site is stalled, as the six partners blame each other, for the lack of progress on the project. The plans to make the experimental reactor part of a broader, international fusion-research package are yet to materialize.
