The Larry Summers's resignation as president of Harvard University is likely to affect the plans to promote and develop science at the institute. The selection committee will therefore probably choose someone steeped in academe with a proven track record and some one who can establish rapport between management and faculty.

A hard habit to break

In 1999, head of the U.S. National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) at a press conference presented two sets of posters showing a healthy brain and a brain damaged by use of ecstasy drug. The scientific community called this a cavalier approach to research and accused NIDA of drug-war ethos.

UN urged to use science in fight against food shortfall

Article Abstract:

United Nations (UN) plans to use science to fight against food shortfall in Africa. Inter Academy Council has produced a report that outlines ways in which scientists, farmers, industry and governments can work together to feed the 200 million malnourished people in Africa.
