Blind diggers in the desert

Article Abstract:

A description is presented on Notoryctes, or eyeless marsupial moles, that spend most of their lifespan underground. Although two species have been identified, N. typhlops and N. caurinus, so little is known about the moles that classification has been difficult. Diet consists of termites and ants, and the pouch of females faces towards the rear so that it will not get filled with sand while the female digs.

Desert warming: what are the consequences of global warming on our desert environments?

Article Abstract:

Climatic changes caused by global warming are expected to increase rainfall in the desert and many desert animals may not be able to compete with incursions by other animals attracted by the wetter climate. The effect of increased rainfall on the habitats of several lizards is described.
