Sonoluminescence in from the dark

Article Abstract:

Sonoluminescence has been created and measured in a physics laboratory by Bradley P. Barber and Seth J. Putterman. Sonoluminescence occurs when a strong sound wave hits a liquid and causes it to glow. Barber and Putterman measured the bubbles of luminescence in water and found that hydrodynamic equations describe their motion. However, the understanding of the underlying mechanism of sonoluminescence remains limited.
