Building hierarchical models of avian distributions for the state of Georgia

Article Abstract:

Hierarchical models are built to predict the probability of occurrence for avian species throughout the state of Georgia, U.S.A., and also to compare the performance of the models to the associated Georgia GAP Analysis (GAGAP) models. The results have provided guidance to wildlife scientists predicting avian occurrence as a function of local and landscape-level habitat attributes.

Effects of selective logging on breeding bird communities in bottomland hardwood forests in Louisiana

Article Abstract:

The impact of land use practices such as selective timber harvesting on breeding bird communities needs to be properly understood so that their conservation is not endangered. A study of breeding bird communities in selectively harvested bottomland forests in northeastern Louisiana during 2003-2004 indicated that selective logging had a positive influence on bird abundance.
